If you need to play with the expression, use gimp to cut out the facial features and move around to see what you can get.
I know of gimp to cut around for experiments. Maybe I'll make use of this feature sometimes. Just don't like to cut around on a scanned drawing though.
I rather prefer to play with the expression on paper with a good white rubber made in Japan, so that you can redo it many times (the cheap ones are destroying your paper immediately).
